Rev Scott Sailer Accepts Call to Parish

Rev. Scott Sailer, Director of Ministerial Recruitment at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis has accepted the call issued him to serve as Pastor of Faith Lutheran Church, Sioux Falls, SD. Rev. Sailer has served in the Admissions Office at Concordia Seminary for more than four years and has been Director of Ministerial Recruitment since June 1, 1997. Prior to his service at Concordia Seminary, he served as Pastor of St. John Lutheran Church, Howard, SD (1985-1989) and Bethesda Lutheran Church, Hot Springs, SD (1989-1994).

"As I was considering the call to come to the Admission Office in 1994, I felt honored that my alma mater would consider me for such a position," commented Sailer. "It's been an honor to meet wonderful guys — from second-graders to middle aged men — who desire to serve the Lord as a pastor. To see some of these men enroll in the Seminary has been personally gratifying. This is a special reason for all of us to thank our God. It is now the Lord's will that I return to parish ministry. For this, I am also thankful," he added.

"Rev. Sailer has served the church and his alma mater in an exemplary way," said Rev. Glen Thomas, Vice President for Seminary Relations at Concordia Seminary. "He has worked tirelessly to identify, inform and encourage appropriate men for service in the pastoral ministry. In addition, his pastoral way of working with prospective students has shown them the very type of pastor we desire them to be when they leave Concordia Seminary. We will surely miss him," added Thomas.

Rev. Sailer will serve in the Admissions Office through Friday, Jan. 15 and will be installed at Faith, Sioux Falls on Sunday, Jan. 31.
