Public Invited to Concordia Seminary Special Events

The next two weeks will contain three opportunities for those within a reasonable drive of the Concordia Seminary, St. Louis campus to partake in special activities. “It is going to be an exciting two weeks and we are pleased to invite the public to these special activities on our campus,” commented Rev. Glen Thomas, vice president for seminary relations at Concordia Seminary. In chronological order, the three special events are:

Advent Service
The Concordia Seminary and St. Louis communities are invited to a service of evening prayer for Advent this Sunday, Dec. 9, at 4:00 p.m. in The Chapel of St. Timothy and St. Titus. The service will be led by the Concordia Seminary Chorus and will include music specifically selected to reflect the season of Advent. Handbells will be used to accompany “The Magnificat” by Healey Willan and the service will conclude with the hymn, “Lo! He Comes with Clouds Descending.”

2001 Dellinger Lecture
George F. Will is the featured speaker for the 2001 Hubert L. Dellinger Jr. Lecture on Thursday, Dec. 13, at 7:00 p.m. in The Chapel of St. Timothy and St. Titus. The lecture, titled, “Public Affairs, Public Policy, and American Society,” is offered to the Seminary and St. Louis communities at no charge and no tickets are issued.

Bach at the Sem
The 10th season of Bach at the Sem, sacred concerts featuring the music of J.S. Bach, as provided by the American Kantorei under the direction of Robert Bergt, continues Sunday, Dec. 16, at 7:30 p.m. in The Chapel of St. Timothy and St. Titus. Bach’s Christmas Oratorio (I, II, III) will be featured. The St. Louis and Concordia Seminary communities are encouraged to attend. Admission is free and no tickets are issued.
