Seminary Provides Morgenthaler Presentation Online
Concordia Seminary, St. Louis is pleased to make available on its Web site the audio recording of a recent presentation by Dr. Shirley K. Morgenthaler on the Seminary campus. The presentation, "Nurturing the Faith and Worship Life of Young Children in the Parish," took place on Dec. 5, 2001 during the Seminary's convocation hour. Morgenthaler is the distinguished professor of education at Concordia University, River Forest, Ill.
The 59-minute presentation is available in Real Audio® format and may be downloaded for offline listening in addition to being available for online listening. The audio files may be accessed at www.csl.edu/convocat.
Topics covered in the presentation include, "The contributions of John Westerhoff in faith formation, faith instruction, faith education and styles of faith"; "What do children learn early?"; "What happens in the brain?"; "Congregational strategies"; and "Will our faith have children?".
Each Wednesday, there are no classes held on the Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, campus from the time the daily chapel service concludes (approx. 10:30 a.m.) until 12:30 p.m. On many Wednesdays, special guest speakers are invited to address the Seminary community in hour-long convocations. The goal of the convocations is to inform and to inspire further thought, study, reflection and discussion between faculty, students and others in the Seminary community.
