Joann K. Mirly Called to Glory
On Saturday, Sept. 4, the Lord of Life called to Himself the soul of Joann K. Mirly (nee Dahme), who served as assistant director of library services at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, for 28 years. She was 60 years old.
Visitation will take place at the Baumann Colonial Chapel, 2504 Woodson Rd., Overland, Mo., on Thursday, Sept. 9, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Friday, Sept. 10, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. The funeral will take place Saturday, Sept. 11, at 11:00 a.m. in Concordia Seminary’s Chapel of St. Timothy and St. Titus. Visitation also will precede the funeral from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. The internment will be private.
Mirly received a bachelor of science degree from Concordia College (now University), Seward, Neb., and a master of library science degree from Wayne State University, Detroit, Mich. Mirly was the recipient of the Crest of Christ award from Concordia University, Seward, Neb., this year in recognition of her history of service in The Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod (LCMS). She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Olivette, Mo., where her husband serves as pastor. She had served as district president of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and as a member of the LCMS Commission on Women.
Survivors include her husband, Rev. Ray G. Mirly; daughter, Dawn (Charles) Weinstock; son, Todd (Ksenia); three grandchildren, Daniel and Joseph Weinstock and Nathaniel Mirly. She was the sister of Arlowyn Boelkelheide, Myrna Swanson, Alan Dahme and the late Doris Dahme and Yvonne Schroeder. She was daughter-in-law of Charlotte (Wilbert) Tiedt and the late Raymond Mirly, as well as sister-in-law, aunt, niece, cousin and friend to many.
