Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, alumni, spouses and widows are cordially invited to attend the annual alumni reunion, which will be held May 30 through June 2, 2006, on the Seminary campus. The event is open to graduating classes from years ending in a “1” or a “6.”
The theme for this year’s reunion is “Pastoral Formation—Then and Now.” The presenters are Brian Mosemann (Class of 1991), assistant professor of theology at Concordia University, Austin, Texas; Dean O. Wollenburg (Class of 1971), associate professor of practical theology and director of distance education at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. Dr. Dale A. Meyer, president of Concordia Seminary, will deliver an address regarding current events and future plans at the Seminary.
“While we have a lot of enjoyable activities planned for alumni, their spouses and widows of alumni, we know that one of the primary attractions of these reunions is the renewing of relationships that were formed on this campus many years ago,” commented Rev. Michael Kumm, director of alumni relations at Concordia Seminary. “Our alumni are also very interested in seeing the changes that have occurred on the campus since they graduated. We are excited to show them the many ways God is blessing their alma mater.”
Registration for this event will begin on Tuesday afternoon, May 30. Later that day, participants and faculty members will enjoy food and fellowship at a picnic in Luther Statue Park. The evening will close with a carillon concert and a reception at Concordia Historical Institute.
Keynote presentations and tours of the campus and the expansion site (the former Christian Brothers College High School campus) will take place on Wednesday, June 2. An open house at President and Mrs. Meyer’s residence will be held on Wednesday evening. Alumni can utilize the remainder of the evening as an opportunity to gather and share memories of their days at the Seminary and what has occurred in their lives since graduation.
On Thursday, June 1, a special afternoon worship service will be held, which will include a presentation by a choir composed of alumni, spouses and widows. President Meyer will serve as preacher for the service. The day’s activities will conclude with a banquet in Wartburg Dining Hall.
Two special gathering are planned exclusively for the spouses and widows of alumni. A lunch will be hosted by Diane Meyer, and several women from the Seminary community will be in attendance. Also, a brunch hosted by the Seminary Guild will be held so alumni women can learn about the exciting work being done by the organization.
