Fisher Records Historic Tennis Victory at Concordia Seminary
Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, announces that Phaedra Fisher made history on April 19 with a victory for the school’s tennis team in number 6 singles. Defeating her opponent from Fontbonne College in straight sets (6-1, 6-1), Fisher became the first woman player to record an official win for Concordia Seminary in intercollegiate play.
The Seminary is playing its matches this year for the first time on the clay courts of Triple-A Golf and Tennis Club in Forest Park, which is the oldest tennis club west of the Mississippi River.
Fisher joined the team last year, and is currently in her second year at Concordia Seminary in the deaconess program. Fisher plays on the varsity tennis team and is pursuing a master’s degree in systematic theology, along with deaconess certification.
Concordia Seminary sponsors varsity teams in both basketball and tennis. Athletics at the Seminary allow coaches and players to make a positive witness to Christ to other teams.
