Seminary Professor to Discuss Da Vinci Code on Radio
Rev. David Lewis, assistant professor of exegetical theology at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, will be the featured guest from 3:00 to 3:30 p.m. (CDST) today on the radio program, Issues, Etc. He will discuss The Da Vinci Code movie which was released last Friday and has already been seen by millions of people in the United States. The interview can be heard locally in the St. Louis area on KFUO radio (850 AM), and globally on the KFUO Web site (www.kfuo.org).
The interview precedes a special presentation, “Post-Release Perspective on The Da Vinci Code,” to be held tonight at 7:00 p.m. (CDST) in Concordia Seminary’s Clara and Spencer Werner Auditorium. It will feature Concordia Seminary professor David Lewis, who will provide a reaction to the movie from the perspective of one who teaches New Testament exegetical theology. Following the presentation, Prof. Lewis will respond to questions and comments from the audience. The public is invited to attend free of charge and no tickets will be issued.
A webcast of the event also will be offered free of charge from the Seminary’s Web site at https://stg.csl.matchbox.host/Resources_Webcast.aspx.
The forum follows one week after the very popular May 16 forum titled “Discernment for Da Vinci: A Primer for Viewing The Da Vinci Code Movie.” The forum featured three members of the Concordia Seminary faculty, Profs. Jeffrey Kloha, Paul Robinson and James Voelz. They offered biblical and historical responses to Dan Brown’s novel, The Da Vinci Code, which serves as the basis for the movie. Video and audio files of this forum are available on the Seminary’s Web site at https://stg.csl.matchbox.host/Resources_Webcast.aspx.
“The May 16 forum was, by necessity, done strictly on the basis of the novel since the movie was not yet released,” commented Dr. William Schumacher, director of theological research and publication at Concordia Seminary. “Our goal in the May 16 forum was to provide some helpful information for people to keep in mind before going to the theater to view the movie. Since the movie debuts on May 19, the May 23 forum will address the movie specifically and is scheduled at a time which allows many to see the movie before coming to the forum.”
