Kumm Announces Acceptance of Call
Rev. Michael L. Kumm, director of alumni relations at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, has accepted the divine call issued him to serve as pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Millstadt, Ill.
Kumm is a 2000 graduate of the Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, alternate route program. He attended Community College of the Air Force and South Dakota State University, and received the M.A. degree in pastoral theology from Concordia Seminary in 2006. Prior to joining the Seminary professional staff in 2004, he served as pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church, West Frankfort, Ill. (2001-2004); and pastor of Blessed Redeemer Lutheran Church, Brandon, S.D. (2000-2001). He is a United States Air Force and South Dakota Air National Guard veteran. He retired from the military in 1999 with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant, the highest enlisted rank. In addition to his position as director of alumni relations, Kumm also served as the Seminary’s athletic director (2005-2006).
“Michael Kumm has blessed us in many ways, taking seriously his commitment to Concordia Seminary,” commented Seminary president Dr. Dale A. Meyer. “He’s been a dependable and contributing presence to our community by serving our important alumni and also by stepping in for a time as athletic director. We wish Michael and his wife, Janet, God’s every blessing. The Lord of the church continues to guide us all for the greater good.”
Kumm will continue his duties at Concordia Seminary until Feb. 28.
