Seminary president, first lady make $10K Giving Tuesday incentive gift
Gift encourages support for future pastors, deaconesses
The Seminary’s Giving Tuesday campaign will center on the themes of “Prepare a Pastor” and “Prepare a Deaconess.” Donors are encouraged to use #PrepareAPastor, #PrepareADeaconess and #GivingTuesday on social media to help spread the word about the campaign. Download Giving Tuesday resources here.
The Meyers hope their gift will inspire others in support of a mission in which they find so much joy. The Seminary’s goal is to raise an additional $10,000 on Giving Tuesday.
“The global Giving Tuesday movement offers people the world over a special opportunity to demonstrate their support for the missions they care about,” said Vicki Biggs, senior vice president, Seminary Advancement. “We give thanks every day for the wonderful people who support the mission of the Seminary throughout the year with their gifts of time, talent and treasure – most certainly including our beloved president and first lady, Dr. and Mrs. Meyer. Our prayer is that our friends and supporters will continue to find joy in partnering with the Seminary for the sake of the Gospel, and that on this special day set aside for giving, others also will be encouraged to join in support of our mission.”
Now in its sixth year, Giving Tuesday is an international day of giving that focuses on philanthropyinstead of the consumerism of the post-Thanksgiving season. In 2016, donors raised more than $177 million for thousands of organizations and charities worldwide, including more than $7,800 for the Seminary, an increase of more than $2,000 from 2015.
