Concordia Seminary Newsroom
Dear alumni
All of us here wish you and yours a most blessed celebration of our Savior’s coming. And more so, after the heavy work of Advent, may you find much needed rest. “‘Come away by yourselves to a desolate place and rest a while.’ For many were coming and going, and they had no leisure even to eat” (Mark 6:31 ESV).
When I first taught at the Seminary in the early 1980s, I occasionally helped out at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Collinsville, Ill. One Sunday after service, Senior Pastor Gil Busarow, now sainted, said to me, “I think God leads into ministry those who are weak in faith, so that we might get closer to Him.” I like that. As I mature, I am ever more aware of my utter dependence upon Jesus. Ministerial work may help save others but my service can’t save me. Only Jesus. We pray blessings upon you this Christmas and in the rest afterward in Him.
