How does one reconcile being a scientist and a Christian? That will be the topic of discussion atConcordia Seminary, St. Louis’ Theological History of Science lecture series with Harvard University astrophysicist Dr. Paul Edmon at 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, in the Presidents Room on campus.

Edmon’s lecture, “The Vocation of Scientist,” will address his view of science and the Bible and how he reconciles his vocation as a scientist and his belief in God, the Scriptures and the Lutheran Confessions.

Edmon holds a bachelor’s degree in physics from the University of Washington and a Ph.D. in astrophysics from the University of Minnesota. Since 2011, he has served as liaison between Harvard University and the Institute for Theory and Computation at the Center for Astrophysics and Research Computing. He specializes in supercomputing and computational fluid dynamics and has completed research on modeling particle acceleration and radiation.

A lifelong Lutheran, he is a member of First Lutheran Church in Boston and is currently serving on the Seminary’s Board of Regents.
