Save the date! 30th Annual Theological Symposium Sept. 17-18
Event includes plenaries, breakout sessions, golf outing
Save the date for the 30th Annual Theological Symposium, “Devoted: (Re)forming the Devotional Life,” set for Sept. 17-18 at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis.
Thought-provoking plenaries and breakout sessions will spark dialogue around the question of what it means to live wholehearted, Christ-centered lives. Attendees will leave refreshed and equipped with the necessary tools to (re)form their devotional lives.
“When most of us think of the word ‘devotion,’ we picture a person in quiet solitude, reading a little book with a short text and a prayer. It’s a beautiful image, but a life of devotion is about more than those 10 minutes,” said Dr. Charles Arand, dean of Theological Research and Publication. “A life of devotion is about all the ways we are spiritually formed around the church’s teachings. We hope all who attend our Theological Symposium will explore ways, past and present, that deepen and expand a devotional life, not only for our individual lives but for our life in community.”
Pastors, deaconesses, ministry leaders and faithful believers will enjoy Christ-centered edification and instruction during the symposium. Highlights include plenaries led by Seminary professors Dr. Charles Arand and Dr. David Schmitt, Dr. Timothy Saleska and Dr. Bruce Hartung. The event also will include breakout sessions, reflection time and recreation. Participants are encouraged to arrive on campus a day early for a golf outing sponsored by the LCMS Foundation, Monday, Sept. 16. Space is limited for this free event.
Registration will open soon. For the first time, the symposium will feature a custom mobile app and pre-registration for individual sessions. Stay tuned to the website for more details, csl.edu/symposium.
Early bird registration for the symposium will be $140 per person through July 17, after which time the fee will increase to $160. This year meals are included. Registration will close Aug. 17. A limited amount of on-campus housing is available.
