Fall Lay Bible Institute set for Oct. 8

‘How the Early Church Read the Bible’ open for registration

Gain new perspectives for reading Scripture from the early church at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis’ fall Lay Bible Institute, “How the Early Church Read the Bible,” led by Professor of Systematic Theology Dr. David Maxwell.

The Bible has been around for more than 2,000 years and has been read in different ways. During this one-day seminar, participants will explore how the church read the Bible in the first 500 years of the church’s history. By entering into the mindset of Christians of a different time and place from contemporary contexts, participants will gain fresh perspectives for their own reading of Scripture.

Open to anyone interested in the study of Scripture and proclamation of the Gospel, the workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 8, 2022, in Sieck Hall 202 on campus, 801 Seminary Place, St. Louis, MO 63105. The registration deadline is Sept. 23, 2022. Cost is $20 per person, $35 with lunch.

The Lay Bible Institute, offered three times a year by Concordia Seminary faculty members, is an ongoing study of the Bible and how it relates to today’s life and events.
