With combined service equaling nearly half a millennium, the significant ordination and commissioning anniversaries of eight faculty, three emeriti faculty and two staff members were recognized Dec. 6 in the Chapel of St. Timothy and St. Titus at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. In total, the honored faculty and staff have served the church collectively 480 years.

President Dr. Thomas J. Egger acknowledged the service of the honored faculty and staff.  

“It is a joy this morning to be able to recognize and honor a number from those in our community who are celebrating anniversaries of their ordination or their commissioning as ministers of the Gospel in Christ’s church,” Egger said to the honorees. “We are celebrating this morning that God has led you to many places, used you in many ways, and we thank God that among those different places and paths He has brought you here to serve at Concordia Seminary among us.”

After the chapel service, the honorees were recognized individually, followed by a time of thanksgiving and celebration in Koburg Hall.

Faculty recognized for their ordination anniversaries were:

• Dr. David Lewis, Associate Professor of Exegetical Theology, 25 years
• Dr. David Maxwell, Professor of Systematic Theology, 20 years
• Dr. Jeffrey Oschwald, Professor of Exegetical Theology, 35 years
• Dr. David Peter, Professor of Practical Theology, 35 years
• Dr. Stephen Pietsch, Associate Professor of Practical Theology, 35 years
• Dr. Mark Rockenbach, Associate Professor of Practical Theology, 25 years
• Dr. Leopoldo A. Sánchez M., Professor of Systematic Theology, 20 years
• Dr. Mart Thompson, Associate Professor of Practical Theology, 35 years

Emeriti faculty recognized for their ordination anniversaries were:

• David Berger, Emeritus Professor, 60 years
• Rev. William Carr Jr., Emeritus Professor, 40 years
• Rev. Francis Rossow, Emeritus Professor, 75 years

Staff recognized for their ordination and commissioning anniversaries were:

• Dr. Daniel Mattson, Academic Assistant in Ministerial Formation, 55 years
• Rev. William Wilson, Director of Resident Field Education, 20 years
