Laudamus choir spring 2024 concert tour set
Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri performances planned
Laudamus, the premier choir of seminarians from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, will perform at seven churches and schools in Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky and Missouri during the spring 2024 concert tour March 18-26.
“It is a joy to make music with these young men each week,” said Cantor Phillip Magness, interim associate director of music arts. “They understand how the purpose of our music is to care for souls.”
The tour theme, “Not Unto Us,” is taken from Ps. 115:1 where the psalmist prays, “Not to us, O Lord, not unto us, but to your name give glory, for the sake of your steadfast love and your faithfulness!” In lieu of a concert, the tour will offer a series of Lenten Evening Prayer services, featuring a setting of Psalm 115 by Donald Busarow and a setting of the Kurt J. Eggert hymn “Not unto Us” from the Lutheran Service Book (LSB 558). The performances will include various other pieces, ranging from a Renaissance motet to a new piece by Magness.
