Seminary Prayer Breakfast to Feature Linebrink

You are cordially invited to attend the seventh annual Cornerstone Prayer Breakfast at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, on Oct. 26, 2012. The doors to Koburg Hall on the Seminary campus will open at 6:30 a.m., with breakfast served at 7:00 a.m.

The guest speaker is Major League Baseball pitcher Scott Linebrink, who this year (his 12th in the Major Leagues) signed as a free agent with the St. Louis Cardinals. He is the great great grandson of Rev. Dr. Francis Pieper, professor at Concordia Seminary from 1878-1931 and president of Concordia Seminary from 1899-1911. He concurrently served as president of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod from 1899-1911. Dr. Pieper presided at the Seminary’s cornerstone-laying on Oct. 26, 1924, exactly 88 years ago from the date of the breakfast. Dr. Pieper’s oration in Latin was interrupted by a bi-plane, commemorated on a relief plaque placed on Wartburg Hall in 1926.

The cost is $25 per person. Individual tickets and tickets for tables of eight can be purchased. Please make checks payable to “Concordia Seminary” and write “Prayer Breakfast” on the memo line. Deadline for ticket purchase is October 19.

If you prefer to sign up online, go to www.csl.edu and click on the ‘Give Now’ button. Enter $25 in the ‘Other’ field and ‘Prayer Breakfast’ in the text field.
