Christ, creation, redemption focus of Winter 2016 Lay Bible Institute
This event has been canceled.
Martin Luther once lamented that people fail to see the daily miracles of God because they are so common. Is there something more to creation that people often miss, something that can bring wonder into their lives and give them a fresh sense of gratitude and contentment?
Explore these issues and more at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis’ Winter 2016 Lay Bible Institute Feb. 6, “In Awesome Wonder: Finding Our Place in God’s Creation” with Dr. Charles Arand, director of the Seminary’s Center for the Care of Creation.
“When the daily news cycle is dominated by outrage and cynicism, this workshop will give you a fresh perspective on yourself and the world in which we live — a perspective that inspires both gratitude and hope,” said Arand, who also is a Eugene E. and Nell S. Finke Graduate Professor of Theology and dean of theological research and publication. “We will explore how in Christ, creation and redemption are cut from the same cloth.
“When taken together, these two works of God encourage us to embrace the wonder of our lives as creatures of God at home in His creation.”
The Winter 2016 Lay Bible Institute will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 6 in Sieck Hall 202. Registration is $20 per person. The registration deadline is Jan. 29.
This event is designed for pastors, students involved in homiletical education and others interested in the proclamation of the Gospel in today’s world.
