Concordia Seminary Commencement Set for May 19

The public is invited and encouraged to attend the 2000 commencement activities at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis on May 19. A special baccalaureate service is planned for 10:00 a.m. in the Seminary’s Chapel of St. Timothy and St. Titus. The commencement exercises will take place at 7:00 p.m. in the Seminary’s main quadrangle.

During the morning baccalaureate service, all who have been certified by the Concordia Seminary faculty as eligible to receive calls to serve as pastors in The Lutheran Church— Missouri Synod will receive their theological diplomas. The commencement exercises in the evening will feature the awarding of academic degrees and the recognition of special honorees. Dr. John W. Oberdeck, assistant professor of practical theology and director of continuing education and parish services at Concordia Seminary, will deliver the sermon in the morning baccalaureate service. Dr. Robert H. King, second vice president of The Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod, will deliver the evening commencement address.
