“And that He [Allah] — exalted be the majesty of our Lord — has not taken a consort, nor a son.” - Quran 72:3 “‘God has no Son?!’ How can I start a serious conversation with a Muslim if the Quran rules out on the core doctrines of Christianity?” Well, it can be done, but sensitivity and respect are needed. Will you take the time to learn the do’s and don’ts of outreach to your Muslim friends and neighbors? Rev. John Loum will be our keynote speaker. He has had more than 20 years of work among Muslims in Europe, Africa, and the U.S. Short break-out sessions will follow the keynote address on these topics: “Your Muslim Neighbor: When Things Went Well”; “Your Muslim Neighbor: When Things Went Badly”; “Rules of Engagement: Christian Women and Muslim Men”; and “Ministry in Muslim Communities.” (9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.; Sieck Hall Room 202; $10)

Organizing for Church Boards and Committees for Greater Effectiveness:

Participation in church boards and committees sometimes is more frustrating than fruitful, draining than fulfilling. People experience inefficiency and observe a lack of productivity. Worst of all, their experience on a church board seems to diminish their faith rather than nurture it. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Congregational boards can be organized to be effective in their tasks and nurturing of relationships and faith. Participants can realize significant impact and satisfaction in their shared work together. But they have to know how to make this happen. This workshop, led by Dr. David Peter, provides insight into models for more effective congregational governance and methods for transforming church boards, committees, and teams into productive communities of ministry. It offers to guide leaders to nurture volunteers toward increased fruitfulness and congregations toward greater impact for Christ’s kingdom. (9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.; Werner Auditorium; $25)
