St. Baldrick's Fundraiser Exceeds Goal
Yesterday, Feb. 10, Concordia Seminary hosted the St. Baldrick’s Foundation Shaving Event on the Concordia Seminary Campus, which raised money to benefit research to find a cure for childhood cancers. The event was a huge success and exceeded all of their goals.
Concordia Seminary aimed to raise $8,000 for St. Baldrick’s this year, and they not only met their goal, but they exceeded it. As of this writing, the total stands at $8,150! Since starting this on-campus event in 2012, they’ve raised more than $23,000.00 for the cause.
Exceeding their goal of 35, the event brought in 37 brave “shavees” who were willing to go bald to show their support and encourage their friends and family to donate funds. The list of “shavees” includes Concordia’s President, Dr. Dale Meyer. Also among the “shavees” was Dr. William Schumacher, director of the Institute of Mission Studies and Mission Associate Professor of Historical Theology, three staff members, and 32 students.
If you didn’t have a chance to submit your donation, you still have some time. Please go to www.stbaldricks.org/events/mypage/7823/2014 to give. For more information about St. Baldrick’s Foundation, visit www.stbaldricks.org.
