St. Baldrick’s head-shaving event slated for March 17
Faculty, staff, students to shed hair for cancer research
—
Students, staff, faculty and friends are invited to join in the St. Baldrick’s for St. Patrick’s Day Celebration from 4-6:30 p.m. March 17 in the Pederson Field House on the campus of Concordia Seminary, St. Louis.
This is the Seminary’s 11th annual St. Baldrick’s Foundation head-shaving fundraiser to support childhood cancer research.
“St. Baldrick’s Foundation head-shaving events give ‘shavees’ a way to stand with children who are fighting cancer and to raise support for the foundation’s mission to find a cure for childhood cancers,” said Dr. Beth Hoeltke, director of the Seminary’s Graduate School and site coordinator for the head-shaving event. “We’re thrilled to be a part of this important mission.”
Funds from the Seminary’s event support the Thumbs Up Fund To Honor Brett Haubrich.
This year’s goal is to raise $10,000. Those wanting to contribute to the cause can visit the Seminary’s St. Baldrick’s Foundation fundraising page.
The Seminary hopes to have at least 40-45 head-shaving participants who will each raise a minimum of $25. Participants who chose to not shave their head can still raise money to support the cause. In addition, green beer and baked goods will be available for a small donation.
Since partnering with St. Baldrick’s in 2012, Concordia Seminary has raised $90,613 for the foundation.
For more information about this event and to donate, visit the Seminary’s fundraising page or contact Hoeltke at 314-505-7031 or hoeltkeb@csl.edu.
